Angle and missing side calculator

The supported range is 0° to less than 90°. A value near 90° makes the missing lengths very large. This tool solves a right triangle, not a general oblique triangle.

Formula and inputs

Opposite = adjacent × tan(θ); hypotenuse = adjacent / cos(θ).

Worked example

At 30° and a 40 mm adjacent side, the rise is 23.094 mm and the travel is 46.188 mm.

Use the result in your setup

Confirm the input dimensions and unit system against your drawing before calculating. Keep full precision during a calculation and round only the final value to suit the measurement or programming requirement. A numerical result does not account for a machine’s complete setup, workholding or control configuration.
