Hole and shaft limits calculator
Enter the limit sizes from the drawing or applicable standards table. This tool classifies the resulting fit; it does not generate ISO grade values such as H7/g6. Negative clearance means interference.
Formula and inputs
Minimum clearance = hole minimum − shaft maximum; maximum clearance = hole maximum − shaft minimum.
Worked example
A 20.000–20.021 mm hole and 19.980–19.993 mm shaft give 0.007–0.041 mm clearance.

Confirm the input dimensions and unit system against your drawing before calculating. Keep full precision during a calculation and round only the final value to suit the measurement or programming requirement. A numerical result does not account for a machine’s complete setup, workholding or control configuration.
