Milling speeds and feeds calculator
Enter cutting speed and chip load from the tool supplier for your exact cutter, material and operation. The RPM cap lowers spindle speed and recomputes feed to retain the entered chip load. This calculator does not select a cutting recommendation from a material database.
Formula and inputs
RPM = 1000 × Vc / (π × D); feed = RPM × feed per tooth × teeth.
Worked example
A 10 mm cutter at 100 m/min with four teeth and 0.05 mm/tooth calculates about 3,183 RPM and 637 mm/min before a machine cap.
Use the result in your setup
Confirm the input dimensions and unit system against your drawing before calculating. Keep full precision during a calculation and round only the final value to suit the measurement or programming requirement. A numerical result does not account for a machine’s complete setup, workholding or control configuration.
